Have you ever considered whether you are expressing
masculine or feminine energy? Understanding your preferred energy and how to
use your opposite will increase your personal and professional effectiveness.
Let me share my experience...
My first awareness of my masculine energy came at the age of
five, though of course I didn't call it by that name at the time. I overheard a
man telling my father that a self-sufficient little girl like me could be put
out in the alley where I could easily fend for myself. It was obvious that this
remark pleased my Dad, which made me feel proud. As a result, I cultivated even
more of this energy and for most of my life it served me well.
However, so much focus on the outside world eventually left
my internal world wanting, and I wound up feeling empty, exhausted, and
depressed. It was time to develop my feminine energy. Some people may be
naturally well-balanced but I had to work at it by spending time reading
spiritual passages, reflecting and meditating.
To access both energies takes awareness of the attributes of
each. And as a form of self-monitoring I developed an internal checklist that
has now taken the form of a questionnaire. You may find it useful as well to measure
your individual masculine and feminine energy.
Answer “Yes” or “No” to each of the following questions, and
record your answer.
1) In a group setting, do you naturally take the lead?
2) When you disagree with someone, do you still typically understand where
they’re coming from?
3) Are you usually confident that your position is correct?
4) Do you go out of your way to make relationships work?
5) Do you usually meet your goals and hit deadlines?
6) Are you content to just "be" and let others make decisions for
you?
7) Are you protective of your property?
8) Are you moved emotionally by music, art, or theater?
9) Do you talk more than you listen?
10) Do you have lots of creative ideas?
11) Do you spend a lot of time thinking about your financial security?
12) Is it important to you to be connected to people on a personal basis?
13) Do you prefer to win an argument with facts?
14) Do you feel part of a larger plan?
15) Do you view situations as “black or white” rather than “shades of gray”?
16) Do you remember your dreams and look for meaning in them?
17) Do you focus on being grounded in the here and now?
18) Do you regularly check your intuition for guidance?
For every even-numbered question you answered “yes,” give yourself
a point; for every odd-numbered question you answered “yes,” take one point
away. A highly positive score indicates an excess of feminine energy, while a
highly-negative score indicates an excess of masculine energy. The closer your
final score is to zero, the more balanced you are in your energy!
I hope this helped you increase your awareness, as that's
the first Stilletto Step and the basis of enjoying good Gender Physics. Make
sense?

Very interesting! I was teetering between 1 and 0 for a final result because I couldn't decide on #17.
I've always been a "tom boy", Betty-Ann, and proud of it. :)

Good comment- Maybe I need to reword that question. What I was trying to establish is the difference between the masculine energy attribute of "let's deal with what we have in the here and now" versus the feminine energy attribute of "what if?". And let me congratulate you on being very balanced. I came out a 3. You can probably credit some of that good score to being a tom boy and being proud of it. You have embraced your opposite! Thanks for the feedback, BA

I got to this rather belatedly, but I ended up with a 1 and like the previous poster stayed pretty even through most of the survey. I'm challenged because I believe that I work in an environment that may honor more masculine energy and I thought perhaps some of my frustration was that my energy was more female. However, with a score of 1 -- that may not be the issue.

You are well balanced Kipley. And you are correct- most law firms are masculine energy as most do litigation which is a masculine force. However, mediation is a feminine pattern of energy. I suspect your frustration comes from a desire for more feminine activities in your daily life. When we work we are mostly in the outside world, which is masculine. Taking the time to go inside is feminine energy and you may be yearning for that. Make sense? Love, BA
