1) Forming a Relationship: As I discussed in my last post, this is natural for women, who tend to have more feminine energy. Because of our biology and our socialization we are naturally attuned to others' needs, making it easy for women to do things for others. We naturally listen, are open and receptive, and are thus able to make connections.
2) Making the Transaction: To turn the relationship into a partnership, we need the masculine energy "take charge" energy. Masculine energy is very outwardly focused and wants to move things forward. It is therefore natural for men, most of whom have more masculine energy, to want to turn the connection into a transaction.
Women who haven't developed their masculine energy are in danger of continually doing things for others. They never charge for their services and deplete their time, energy, and money. Meanwhile, men who haven't cultivated their feminine energy never develop the relationship in the first place. They are constantly on the pitch, doing the sales patter, and sizing up the competition. Their version of networking is frenetically moving from person to person without ever really building a lasting relationship. They may get the order once, but its unlikely to be repeated.
Good Gender Physics speaks to the value of developing the two energies that are within all of us. If we balance those energies, it can help us develop relationships and turn them into business, the ultimate objective of networking. Don't you think that's a worthy aspiration?
