July 27, 2009 – Saskatoon, Sask.: Do you think of life, money, success, or knowledge as endlessly abundant, or do you view them as a zero-sum game? When I used to be on the diet merry-go-round of constantly gaining and losing weight, I would joke that there was a finite amount of weight on earth – if one of us lost weight, someone else had to put it on! Upon encountering a friend who had slimmed down, I would congratulate them and then ask to be thanked, explaining that my additional pounds were almost certainly transferred from them! Wasn't I thoughtful to help them out?
It is only recently that I have realized what an attitude of scarcity I was demonstrating, and I now see that all of us can be successful, physically and financially. When in corporate I used to say that, "a rising tide lifts all boats." We could never expect our business to flourish if our competition was failing. It’s the same in life – there is a lot of abundance to go around! An online friend commented that money can be compared to a chocolate cake. Those acting from the feminine energy will cut up the cake and share it, believing that there’s plenty to go around. Those acting from the masculine energy will claim the cake for themselves, believing it’s a zero-sum game.
Sharing makes the cake bigger, whether you’re dealing with money, success, or knowledge. Rather than believing that others having more means there's less for you – that's the scarcity mentality – instead take the attitude that more for others means more for you. Its not what is happening around you that determines your wealth, but what is happening inside of you. If all of us (men and women alike) were to embrace our feminine energy, it would balance the energy on the planet and we could more readily co-create with the universe.
We are all funded by the universe, which requires us to do a couple of things before it hands out wealth:
1) To think abundantly and act abundantly, in every aspect of our lives. We need to live with confidence that there is enough for everyone.
2) To believe you can do it and that you deserve it. Self-esteem is the basis of abundance. Are you ready to receive it?
